The Maria Cristina hotel of San Sebastián hotel was inaugurated in 1912 as a result of the success of the city as a favourite tourist destination for the aristocracy and royalty and contributed to its transformation into the cosmopolitan and active city that it is today. Its architect was Charles Mewes, also the builder of the Ritz hotels in Paris and Madrid, and its elegant and majestic design have made it the preferred accommodation of international high society. Part of its security facilities have recently been renovated and among them is the voice alarm and public address system provided by OPTIMUS, an EN 54 certified control unit with more than 2000 W RMS power and more than 400 sound points, mostly the A-266EN, model, a ceiling speaker with 6W RMS, metal back cover, ceramic terminals, thermal fuse, and internal fire-resistant wiring.
